Justice & Peace

He came to Nazareth, where he had grown up, and went according to his custom into the synagogue on the sabbath day. He stood up to read and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah. He unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to bring glad tidings to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free,
and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.”

Luke 4:16-19

Who We Are

The Justice & Peace Ministry is a ministry whose mission it is to educate, raise awareness and foster compassion for the poor, the marginalized and all those in need. We raise awareness about injustices that are the root causes of poverty, homelessness and other such problems that face people in our community, country and world. The Ministry provides opportunities for members, and the parish as a whole to live out the Gospel message of peace and justice by responding to the needs of the world’s most vulnerable people.

We need compassionate hearts willing to educate and be educated about and address issues of social justice and peace. All are welcome and no particular commitment of time or talent is necessary, only as much or as little as you prefer.

We host an annual Fair Trade Sale, a Movie Night each year, participate in CRS Rice Bowl project during Lent, the Gift of Letters in the spring and collect items for Wash Up bags for the homeless, an ongoing project, and more….. Join us! We meet on the second Monday of the month at 7 PM in Room 110.
