God Thinks in Terms of Love, Not Taco Bell.
Like St. Peter, we tend to see the cross, and miss the rest of the story. Jesus invites us to the cross, yes. This is an invitation to renounce self-indulgence and embrace self-gift. In this way, we journey through the cross into the very Heart of the Trinity–Love Itself–self-gift. Fr. James offers 10 concrete goals to help us answer Jesus’ call.
1. Read, watch, and listen to Catholic educational content for >1 hour a week.
2. Read Scripture for >10 minutes a day
3. Pray in silence for >10 minutes a day
4. Attend Mass twice a week
5. Go to confession monthly
6. Perform acts of penance two days a week (especially Friday)
7. Practice a work of mercy at least every other week (e.g. volunteering)
8. Donate >2% of your income to support OLM, and >2% to charity
9. Join a communal faith/support group
10. Intentionally evangelize each week
