Rite of Candidacy for the Permanent Diaconate 9/18

Our Lady of Mercy has the special privilege of hosting the Rite of Candidacy for the Permanent Diaconate on Friday, September 18 at 7:00 p.m.
During this important step in their formation, 18 men from across the Diocese of Joliet will publicly declare their intention to continue preparing for Holy Orders, and the Church will formally accept them as candidates for the permanent diaconate.
This celebration is especially meaningful for our parish because three of these men are from Our Lady of Mercy: Brian Cancio, Matthew Kubanda, and Sibin Marattil.
Bishop Dennis E. Spies will serve as principal celebrant as we surround these men, their wives and families, and all those discerning and preparing for ordained ministry with our prayers.
We encourage our OLM parish family to come and support Brian, Matthew, and Sibin in person as they take this significant step in answering God’s call to serve His Church.
Friday, September 18 | 7:00 p.m. | Our Lady of Mercy
Unable to attend in person? The Mass will also be livestreamed on our website, YouTube, and Facebook.
Please keep all 18 candidates in your prayers as they continue their journey toward the permanent diaconate.
