News from the Parochial Vicar
What a beautiful and grace-filled couple of weeks it has been!
On September 24th, we celebrated the beatification of Archbishop Fulton Sheen. Beatification is the last step before canonization, when, God willing, he will be declared a saint! Many miracles attributed to his intercession are already being investigated, so we pray that soon he will be declared a saint.
Blessed Fulton Sheen, pray for us!
Last weekend, we also celebrated our parish feast day, Our Lady of Mercy. We had a wonderful celebration on Saturday with our Oktoberfest. Over 700 people joined in the festivities! The weather was perfect, and it was a night filled with great fun and celebration. A special thank you to all the volunteers who worked so diligently to make the evening such a success.
This past Tuesday, September 29th, the Church celebrated the Feast of the Archangels: Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, and on Friday we celebrated the Memorial of the Guardian Angels.
October is a month dedicated in a particular way to the angels. At the first moment of creation, God created the angels and assigned each of them a task. All the angels were created in a single instant. We do not become angels when we die; angelic beings are completely different from human beings.
Yet from the beginning of time, God created an angel with the task of interceding for you, protecting you, and watching over you. This is the task of your guardian angel. We all have one, and from the beginning of time, that angel has been assigned to care for you.
