News from the Parochial Vicar
Brothers and Sisters in the Lord,
It is hard to believe we are already in September and celebrating Labor Day. For many of us, Labor Day marks the end of summer. The kids are back in school (and counting the days until Christmas break), the suitcases are unpacked from vacations, and we start to get back into our โnormal routines.โ
Even here at Our Lady of Mercy, we are getting back into our various ministries. During the summer months, the parish buildings and grounds have been cleaned, repaired, and made ready for the rest of the year. Last weekend, we held our Ministry Expo. Thank you to all who came and volunteered or signed up for our various ministries.
I think it is important, as we celebrate Labor Day, to be reminded of the importance of rest. In a world where we are constantly busy, rest can sometimes feel like a luxury. However, rest is not a waste of time. It is an essential part of living a healthy, balanced, and productive life. It allows us to renew our bodies, refresh our minds, and boost our spirits. It can include reading a book, taking a walk, listening to music, spending time with family and friends, or simply taking a few moments away from our screens.
It is especially important to remember to โrestโ with the Lord. Take time to pray, read Scripture or another spiritual book, or simply sit quietly in Godโs presence. A beautiful way to do this is through Eucharistic Adoration. I would encourage everyone to take some time in the coming weeks to stop in at our Adoration Chapel, even if it is just for five minutes. We can never allow ourselves to be so busy that we canโt spend a few minutes with our Lord.
