  • Application for any NEW VBS Volunteers, Entering High School through Age 17

  • If this is your first time volunteering as someone entering high school through age 17 and is wanting to serve our VBS Campers, you are required to submit an application volunteer form and be approved by a staff member prior to serving as a volunteer.  EACH NEW VOLUNTEER ENTERING HIGH SCHOOL THROUGH AGE 17 must fill out and submit their own form! Once approved, our safe environment coordinator, Jean Palasz, will contact you and explain the final step to meeting the safe environment compliance requirement. Please download, print and compete this document if your are a NEW VBS volunteer. Kindly return it to the R.E. office or send as an attachment to maryjot@olmercy.com by Wednesday, June 16th.
  • UPDATE: Safe Environment Action Item for ALL New and Returning Volunteers, Entering High School through Age 17

    As of April 1, the diocesan compliance requirements for volunteers ENTERING HIGH SCHOOL THROUGH AGE 17 who minister to children must register for a Virtus account at www.virtus.org which will prompt them to take the required training, "Healthy Relationships for Teens 2.0" Please contact Jean Palasz, our safe environment coordinator if you have any questions.   • Volunteer Descriptions:

    • Music and Skit Station - Support your Adult Station Leader and team with leading super-fun skits and leading movement to VBS songs.
    • Bible Adventures and Craft Station - Support your Adult Station Leader and team by helping to enact the Bible story that connects to the Bible point for each day. Next, assist campers with making a craft that reinforces the Bible message.
    • Saint Station - Support your Adult Station Leader and team by taking a turn to be the VBS Saint of the Day. Dress the part and share your story that connects with the Bible point of the day.
    • Jungle Gym Game Station - Support your Adult Station Leader and team by assisting campers with how to play a variety of outdoor cooperative games with an encouraging team spirit.
    • Imagination Station - Support your Adult Station Leader and team by preparing and trying out all the sciency-fun gizmos in advance so you know how to assist campers when it is their turn to put together their gizmos. Get ready to communicate the connection between the gizmo and the Bible point of the day.
    • Crew Leader - Support the Adult/Parent Guide by helping your group of campers participate in the VBS discussions and activities as well as transition to each station.
    • Service Creation Station - Help your station leaders and team to facilitate camper-friendly service projects that connect to each day's Bible point and putting it into action.

  • Middle School & Teen Volunteer Training Meeting

    Youth Volunteers will have fun meeting with their adult station leaders and fellow team members in small groups to form as a team and learn the specifics of volunteering in their station. They will learn or review effective leadership strategies when serving a multi-age group of children. Each evening will begin with a pizza dinner.
