  • Safe Environment Requirements - For High School Volunteers ONLY (Entering Grade-9 thru age 17)

    If you have NEVER completed a Volunteer Application Form for VBS at Our Lady of Mercy, you need to download and submit your application by Friday, July 15th. This allows for the necessary time to check character references and be approved by a staff member before the start of VBS.

  • Safe Environment Volunteer Requirement #2 - "Healthy Relationships for Teens 2.0" Training

    Once your Volunteer Application is approved, our safe environment coordinator, Karen Schwartz, will contact you and explain the final step to meeting your safe environment requirements which entails, viewing a webinar on Healthy Relationships for Teens.

  • Volunteer Descriptions:

    • K4 VBS Leaders (for Pre-Schoolers) - In a safe and self-contained pre-school environment, assist the adult leaders by helping our youngest campers in one of their first community Bible adventures to know Jesus.
    • VBS Childcare - Assist Adult Leaders with childcare for children able to walk, through ages 3.5 years old, to provide a nurturing environment and to interact with our little ones so that their parents may take leadership roles throughout our VBS week.
    • Music and Skit Station - Support your Adult Station Leaders and team with leading super-fun skits and leading movement to VBS songs.
    • Bible Adventures Station - Support your Adult Station Leaders and team by helping to enact and discuss the Bible story that connects to the Bible point for each day.
    • Saint Station - Support your Adult Station Leaders and team by learning about the Saints who have gone before us as well as "Kid Saints in the Making".
    • Game Station - Support your Adult Station Leaders and team by assisting campers with how to play a variety of outdoor cooperative games with an encouraging team spirit.
    • Imagination Station - Support your Adult Station Leaders and team by preparing and trying out all the sciency-fun gizmos in advance, to learn how best to assist campers when it is their turn to put together their gizmos. Get ready to communicate the connection between the gizmo and the Bible point of the day.
    • Crew Leader - Support the Adult/Parent Guides by helping your group of campers participate in the VBS discussions and activities in each station and help make the transition to each station a fun and smooth one.
    • Connecting Kids to Justice Station - Support your Adult Station Leaders and team to facilitate camper-friendly service projects that help us to put the messages of the Bible stories into action.

    If you would like to assist the VBS Decorating Team with creating the environment for VBS Monumental, please select the dates/times you would like to participate.
  • Note This Important Requirement: Middle School & High School Teen Volunteer Training Meeting - Saturday, July 30, 5:30-8:00pm

    Youth Volunteers will have fun meeting with their adult station leaders and fellow team members in small groups to form as a team and learn the specifics of volunteering in their VBS Station or working as a Crew Leader. You will learn or review effective leadership strategies when serving a multi-age group of children. Our evening will begin with a pizza dinner.

    To best support your teen, please let us know of any serious allergies, physical limitations, behavioral challenges, special needs and/or family circumstances (recent separation, divorce, death or illness).
