Grades K-5 Program Description

An Invitation to ALL Families with K-5 Children – Get Caught Up in our Faith Story!!!
An old saying is true: “Faith is caught, not taught.” Faith is caught from those people who are closest to us. This is the key reason why the heart of our parish, K-5 faith program is being built upon the Pastoral Center’s Growing Up Catholic- Faith Stories series. This is a whole family model of faith formation beautifully designed for families with children and youth to be done in the home at a time of your choosing.

The Faith Stories Series will consist of faith stories sharing and faith stories enrichment learning activities. Parents will take the lead at Faith Sharing Gatherings at home with their families supplemented by a monthly catechist connection time along with a monthly Family Faith Focus on our webpage.

The sacramental program for 1st Reconciliation and Eucharist will also be offered to children in 2nd grade as well as the RCIC program for children in grades 3-12 who missed a sacrament along the way.

Please see more information on these programs on the R.E. Family 2020-2021 Calendar by going to the R.E. K-5 webpage.

EDGE Grades 6-8 Program Description

The EDGE program for Middle School Youth (Grades 6-8) will help our students stay connected to their faith and friends! We will offer Non-Gathered Sessions starting in October through December. First, we will invite students to meet with small groups once a month virtually/online through Zoom meeting with their Edge Leader for about 30 minutes.  The 2nd session each month will be a family activity and discussion meant for the teen and parents to be done together at home and at your own pace. Faith topics and detailed information on the student/catechist session will be sent to families by email each month.

Starting in January, we hope to have Two Gathered Sessions a month with their small group (of 10 students) and EDGE Leader in the Parish Life Center on Monday evenings from 6:30-7:30 pm (The time may change if we need additional space due to enrollment). Social distancing, temperature check upon arrival and masks will be required. This may change based on the State of Illinois/Diocese of Joliet health/safety guidelines.

Large group gatherings at EDGE Monday sessions (January-April) will be added as possible, but most likely not until February or March. We also hope to include a short 3 hour retreat day for our students after the holidays. Parent Formation opportunities and resources will be offered monthly . Social and Service events will be added as possible. All the details will be sent to families via email and posted on the EDGE webpage.

L.I.G.H.T. Grades 9-12 Program Description

The L.I.G.H.T. program (Living In God’s Holy Truth) for high school teens includes formation, social, service and worship components for all four years of high school. Teens are also invited to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in the high school years. We begin the sacramental process with Alpha for Youth on Sundays beginning in September (runs for 9 weeks). Teens can then decide if they want to continue on their faith journey by meeting with a Faith Mentor (an adult leader who will help guide, support and pray for the teen on this journey). We will offer “Basics of our Faith” mini-courses (4 weeks in length) beginning in January and going through May as well as various social, service, discipleship projects, and worship experiences. Please check the Sacrament of Confirmation webpage and the L.I.G.H.T. webpage for more details.

Our hope is to have Gathered sessions for most of our programs with social distancing, masks and temperature checks. This may change based on the State of Illinois/Diocese of Joliet health/safety guidelines. Online or virtual programing will be offered as needed.
