Called by God & Baptism

Since creation, God, our Creator, has chosen us in love and for love.  In your first family gathering, you celebrated a God who is capable of creating life through the power of His spoken Word, Jesus, and through God’s breath, the Spirit of God.  Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are mysteriously both one God and three persons who chose to create us in their divine image (Genesis 1:27).  All of this “love action” on God’s part point to the great gift of belonging to the Sacred One who has chosen us first.  God’s overflowing love and first choice of us is echoed in the faith stories we’ve been pondering in Genesis~ the creation of Adam and Eve, the call of Abraham and Sarah, the heroism of Joseph. From Genesis to Revelation and through the lives of the Saints to this day as Saints in the making, God who is Love, never ceases to call us to Himself.

What gift and example did Jesus give us that we may become His beloved children?  How are we created anew through the love of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit?  BAPTISM!!  Baptism is the focus of our November faith enrichment page.  We give thanks to God for His love and choice of each one of us to belong entirely to Him.  “It is not you who have chosen me, but I who have chosen you.”  (John 15:16)  May we open the door to the eternal wellspring of life within us, our baptism, who is Jesus, and welcome His love and mercy to wash over us each day.  Through our cooperation with Grace, we bear the Spirit’s fruit in our families through our words and actions, bringing loved ones to welcome Him too.  Praise God!
